What is a doula?

A birth doula is a trained professional who provides physical, emotional, and informational support to individuals and their partners during labor and childbirth. Unlike medical professionals who focus on clinical care, a birth doula helps create a supportive and empowering birth experience by offering continuous encouragement, assisting with comfort measures, and helping navigate the birth process with informed choices. Their role is to enhance the birthing experience by fostering a positive and supportive environment for both the birthing person and their support network.

Can I use a doula for a hospital birth?

Of course! Home, hospital, birth center, I will be there!

Can I use a doula for a medicated birth?

Absolutely. My role as a doula is to help you feel empowered and confident in your birth experience, no matter what pain management options you choose!

When should I book?

Spots fill up! So once you feel like we would be a good fit, it is best to put down a deposit. Most expecting mothers book before the end of their second trimester.

As my doula, will you be there my entire labor?

As soon as you enter active labor, I will be by your side. I will stay An hour or so post birth and then leave you to bond as a family. I will check back in within 24hrs and find a time for our postpartum visit.

What is the difference between a Dona doula and a doula?

Dona is the first and one of the most well known and regarded doula certification groups.

What happens if you are unavailable due to unforeseen circumstances?

I will not accept any clients if I have any plans to be out of town. Should a personal conflict or sickness arise, I will coordinate and organize a colleague to fill in. Based on our relationship, I will find the best fit for you to support you through your labor.
